Janie Tito was the 2016 recipient of the Peg Hutchinson Career Change Award while she was studying Information Technology (IT) focusing on web development with the Enspiral Dev Academy in Wellington.
The Career Change Awards are available to help and assist women to change the focus of their career and employment by entering a non-traditional field of employment for women.
Janie describes her journey as being extremely challenging but the most rewarding experience. The award enabled her to focus more on her studies with less stress about financial matters. The award was financially important, but of equal importance was the support and encouragement that she received in gaining this award which was incredibly empowering.
Janie graduated and is working as a web developer at ‘Manu’. She chose to ‘pay it forward’ by sponsoring an award herself. The Manu Award is a Second-Chance Education Foundation/Diploma award, to encourage more women to work in IT.
