Message from the Trustees

E te whānau whānui o Hine Kahukura, tēnā koutou katoa. Greetings to our New Horizons for Women:Hine Kahukura Trust friends, whanau and family. This is a difficult time for everyone as we adapt to life under lock-down. Like all of you, we are moving to respond to the situation as best we can. Warm wishes to all of you.

New closing date for award applications – 30 April

In response to the pressures brought by COVID-19, the trustees have elected to extend the time for submission of award applications to 30 April 2020. You can read about all of the awards on offer in 2020 and access the awards application website here.

Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting on 3 April is now cancelled. We have sought advice from Charities Services and will be meeting the requirements of the Annual Meeting through a virtual board meeting on 20 April. The Annual Report will be made available to supporters after the meeting and will be available for download on the website at that time.

Awards Ceremonies

The normal July / August award ceremonies have also been cancelled in light of COVID-19, to help keep our community of NHWT: HK supporters safe.  The Board will continue to monitor the situation and will be in touch with further details if there is a rescheduled date this year.

Second Chance Women’s Pre-Loved Fashion Sale cancelled

Coronavirus is disrupting many areas of our lives at the moment. We are sad to hear that the Second Chance Women’s Pre-Loved Fashion Sale fundraiser has been cancelled for this year. This is a necessary measure to help keep us all safe. It does mean that we will have fewer Second Chance Education awards to give out this year. If you would like to donate in lieu of the sale, our details are available here.

Donating to support our work

The award money from our sponsors, donors and supporters will be even more important at this time, as families will be struggling financially, so if people are able to give that would be very welcome. Our work to support women in education and research is only possible with supporters like you.  Find out how you can donate to the Trust here or speak to our Trust Manager Sarah about writing a bequest or sponsoring a future award by emailing enquiries@newhorizonsforwomen.org.nz

The more we work together, the more we can do.

Thank you for your on-going support of New Horizons for Women: Hine Kahukura.
