Outward Bound Awards
The two Outward Bound awards are for women who would benefit from the different life experience and challenge that Outward bound are famous for. This experience should help them prepare for their next steps on their learning journey.
Preference is given to women who are planning to undertake study in the next few years, but applications are also welcomed from those who have been studying and are now preparing for work or post graduate study.
Milika Taufateau was the first recipient of an Outward bound award through NHWT:HK in 2017. "The award paid for the classic course, my medical assessment and for transportation there and back home. I am and will always be grateful for this award as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was 21 days of adventure, challenge, and learning about myself and others. I felt like I belonged there and it was what I was born to do! The activities we got to do were extremely fun yet challenging but as they say, there is more in you than you think". Milika walked away from Outward Bound physically and mentally stronger, feeling like she, "could take on the world".
After the course Milika intended to work and support her family financially until things were stable enough for her to go back to studying. "I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to take on an Outward Bound course. I've learned life lessons and skills that will help me at any stage or age in life".
We hope the next Outward Bound awardees will feel the way Milika did at the end of her experience.
