The Second-Chance Education Foundation Study Awards are for women who are enrolled in a New Zealand approved tertiary qualification and who do not already have a tertiary qualification. Leanne Jacobs received the NZFGW Canterbury Trust Second-Chance Education Award at the Palmerston North ceremony, 2015

Leanne returned to New Zealand from Australia with her four-year-old son at the end of 2014, She enrolled at UCOL to study the Certificate in Science and Health with the hope that she would gain entry into UCOL’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Imaging Technology). To give up a good job to pursue a dream of being a health professional has been a huge transition to make but one about which she has no regrets. Her fears that it was too late to study have been proven unfounded.
