Purpose of the awards
Second-Chance Foundation Study Awards in the under 25 years of age category, are available for younger women who are enrolled in tertiary education at the certificate/foundation studies level. NOTE: Awardees may have recently returned to complete secondary school studies to gain University Entrance after a gap in their schooling, and are now enrolled in tertiary education at the certificate/foundation studies level.

The awards are a one off grant to help with study and/or living expenses.

 

Eligibility criteria
To apply for a Foundation Study Award you must meet all the following eligibility criteria:

The applicant is a woman, who:

  • Is under 25 years of age at 12 April 2017
  • Is enrolled in a NZ approved tertiary qualification  and studying towards a certificate/foundation programme NZQA Level 1 to 4, that is at least one semester in duration
  • OR, after recently returning to complete secondary school studies in NCEA or CIE to gain University Entrance, after a gap in her schooling, is now enrolled in a NZ approved tertiary qualification and studying towards a certificate/foundation programme NZQA Level 1 to 4, that is at least one semester in duration
  • Is a New Zealand citizen or holds a resident class visa, and lives in New Zealand
  • Has not previously received a NHWT Second-Chance Education Foundation Study Award
