Peg Hutchison Opportunity Award
The Peg Hutchison Opportunity Award is a new award offered by the New Horizons for Women Trust as a consequence of a generous bequest by Peg Hutchison founding member, and long time Treasurer of the New Horizons for Women Trust.
Peg Hutchison Opportunity Award
This new award is to be granted for the first time in 2010 to women who are changing direction in their career, and intend working in a field where women are under-represented and/or is non-traditional for women.
Eligibility
Applicants must be women who are enrolled in an academic course or trade apprenticeship where women are under-represented or which is non-traditional for women.
Applications are now closed for 2010.
Award Winners
2007 Winner – Lucy Liang
Lucy Liang, winner of the Ria McBride Public Service Management award, has worked in the Department of Labour for 13 years.
She has performed in managerial roles around the world including Beijing, New Delhi and closer to home in Wellington, Dunedin and Auckland. Lucy is the first Asian woman appointed as onshore Acting Branch Manager within the Immigration Service and is currently completing her MBA at the Auckland University.
She wants to continue being an effective leader who can make a difference to the department, whilst being a positive Asian role model to Kiwis and new migrants.
