Purpose of the awards
The award assists a successful mid-career woman (at post-doctoral level) with her scientific research expenses. Science in this context includes the physical and social sciences (including mathematics/statistics). Preference will be given to a woman who is working in a field that is non-traditional for women or where women are under-represented in the discipline or research area.
The award may be used to purchase equipment, gathering of data, field work expenses, the services of a research assistant or data analyst. It may also be used to support the costs of publishing research findings, or expenses incurred in meeting or working with colleagues (including outside New Zealand), provided this is a necessary part of the scientific research. The award cannot be used to buy books, for conference attendance or to pay for university or other research institution overheads or administration charges.
Eligibility criteria
Before you apply please ensure you meet ALL the following eligibility criteria: A woman, who is a New Zealand citizen (or holds a resident class visa) and who:
- Is currently engaged in scientific research (i.e. physical and social sciences)
- Has a doctorate and an outstanding academic track record in her discipline(s)
- Lives in New Zealand
